Accountant

We are seeking an Accountant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of accounting duties, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, financial statement preparation, grant reporting, fiscal analysis, and auditing functions. This role requires a detail-oriented and analytical individual with a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.


Key Responsibilities:
1. Journal Entries
  a. Prepare and record accurate and timely journal entries for various financial transactions.
  b. Ensure all journal entries comply with company policies and accounting standards.
  c. Review and reconcile subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger.
2.Balance Sheet Reconciliations
  a. Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual balance sheet reconciliations.
  b. Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  c. Maintain detailed and organized reconciliation documentation.
3. Financial Statement Preparation
  a. Prepare and report monthly financial statements.
  b. Ensure financial statements are prepared in accordance with GAAP.
  c. Provide detailed variance analysis and explanations for significant fluctuations.
  d. Present financials to Board as needed.
4. Grant Reporting
  a. Manage and report on grant related financial activities.
  b. Ensure compliance with grant agreements and funding agency requirements.
  c. Prepare and submit periodic financial reports to grantors.
5. Fiscal Analysis
  a. Conduct thorough fiscal analysis to support decision-making processes.
  b. Provide insights and recommendations based on financial data.
  c. Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets and forecasts.
6. Auditing Functions
  a. Conduct periodic audits to ensure compliance with various funding sources.
  b. Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
7. Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
 • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
 • Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or related field with a focus on financial accounting.
 • Strong knowledge of GAAP and governmental accounting.
 • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
 • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
 • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
 • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
